Last week (25-29th August), the women’s Indiaca team of SFG Morbio competed in the Indiaca World Cup, held in Saitama City, Japan. Where our colleague Cristina Fontana from Metaltex Switzerland (second from the left, no. 24) added another gold medal to her already established collection.
After cruising through the qualifying rounds top of the table, Morbio then passed their toughest test yet in the semi-finals, beating the dreaded Swiss team from Niedergösgen (Canton of Solothurn).
On the 29th of August, Morbio faced the Estonian team in the final, who had beaten one of the tournament favourites to qualify, the Japanese team ‘Color’. During the final, the level of play was very competitive with a high level of skill demonstrated by the Estonians, but the Swiss team never lost focus and eventually lifted the trophy as World Champions!
Metaltex wishes Cristina and the rest of SFG Morbio our sincerest congratulations.
